ABOUT Lynne

Lynne was born in 1964 in Wellington, New Zealand where her family had emigrated for a few years before returning to the UK and settling in Cornwall.

Her father was an architect based in Truro, where Lynne went to school, and her mother taught at a local primary school.

Lynne did her foundation course at Falmouth Art College and a degree course in Cardiff  (SGIHE) attaining a BA in Fine Art in 1987. One of her figurative paintings was selected for the Whitworth Young Contemporaries.

Lynne still lives in Wales and was elected a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy of the Arts in 2017. She retains strong links with Cornwall where she has family and friends.  In recent years she has become involved with the Portscatho Arts Society which has been the inspiration for her Portscatho window paintings.

Lynne’s paintings have been collected as far afield as Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and USA, as well as UK and Europe.

“I have been interested in still life for a long time. The still life motif of objects within a bowl, I find intriguing: it’s a form within the space of another form. The impact of light is important to me as it moves across a space. Recently I have been inspired by the view from the studio of the Portscatho Arts Society. This has lead me to develop colour mixes and colour combinations to convey the experience of catching glimpses of Gerrans Bay from inside the studio.”
