Open Mon-Sat, 10-5pm

This September, we launch our fourth exhibition of the year at Morgans showcasing the work by six Cornish artists.
For the first time, we are exhibiting the work of Penzance based artist Bo Hilton. A painter whose work explores his own connection to Cornwall, whilst touching on the influences and practices of his parents Rose and Roger Hilton, and their St Ives contemporaries. His collection draws on the process of abstraction, focusing on the importance of space within the painting, created through a strong use of colour. Alongside sits a series by Harry Wade, whose abstract paintings ‘always seem to come back to questions about why and how we’re here’. Saul Cathcart’s work also hangs in Show No.4, whose work has a strong connection to the landscape he lives within. Each piece explores the hybrid of abstraction and the figurative quality of the landscape he is referencing. Ella Carty brings a bold use of colour to the gallery, with nods to the interior environment that surrounds her with a sense of domesticity.
Alongside the more abstract work sits illustrative collections by Janine Burrows and Holly Razavi. Janine’s paintings capture scenes and moments in Cornwall with a playful yet calm quality to them. Holly Razavi’s large paintings have a serene feel to them, illustrating days out on the coast, capturing the joyful interactions of figures in the landscape. Besides the paintings sits a new body of work by Kitty Hillier - sculptural ceramics and vessels in deep yellows and earthy tones, full of texture from their hand built nature.
